Information about online fundraising for Pema Kilaya and the Kilung Foundation
Alerting you to online scams
Over the last few months, a number of false requests for donations have been sent to students of several Tibetan lamas via Facebook Messenger. We are writing to alert you to this activity so that you are not fooled by these attempts to take advantage of your good will.
We do not initiate correspondence directly via Facebook messenger, ever. Although we do occasionally send out a message about a fundraising campaign from Rinpoche’s Facebook page, or from Kilung Foundation’s Facebook page, it will always have a link to the campaign on our website. If you do not see the campaign mentioned on our kilung.org or pemakilaya.org websites, then it is a scam.
Not only will Kilung Rinpoche, Kilung Foundation, or Pema Kilaya never contact you directly on Facebook Messenger, we will never post bank account information in an email or online, nor request that you wire or ACH funds. We only use our official Paypal account.
Please contact us at pemakilaya@gmail.com if you suspect an email or message from someone claiming to be Rinpoche or a representative of Pema Kilaya or Kilung Foundation. Take screen shots if possible to send us, and refrain from clicking on any links.
If you have concerns or questions, we welcome them.
Sincerely, Jeanne and Karen
Co-Directors Kilung Foundation/Pema Kilaya
